LEARN ABOUT BENEFITS OF EPOXY FLOORING
  • DURABILITY

When evaluating flooring materials, wear resistance refers to the life of the floor. How will it hold up under foot and mechanical traffic? Will continuous use of the surface cause cuff and scratch marks? Some surfaces hold up better than others. Wear-resistant epoxy floors are specially formulated to stand up to harsh conditions and heavy traffic. They also stand up to dirt, grime, and routine cleanings.

  • CONDUCTIVITY AND STATIC CONTROL

As a person walks across a standard epoxy floor, it is very easy to build up static charge through friction because epoxy acts as an insulative material. Where there is static, there is electrostatic discharge. This can cause mayhem in certain industries. ESD floors, also known as static dissipative floors (1 Mohm to 1000 Mohms) or conductive floors (.025 Mohms to 1 Mohms), provide superior static control, inhibiting static electricity on a person or from reaching sensitive equipment.

  • DECORATIVE OPTIONS

Public areas and showrooms can achieve their desired appearance while enjoying the strong and durable qualities of epoxy.

  • CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Chemical attack can destroy floors quickly. Chemical-resistant epoxy flooring systems contain properties that protect these areas from spills and splashes from acids, alkalis, solvents, and other corrosive elements.

All Stonhard flooring systems are chemical resistant. Click here to learn about one of our versatile, Chemical-Resistant Epoxy Flooring Systems.

  • LOW MAINTENANCE

Spend less time cleaning and maintaining your epoxy floors with a low-maintenance flooring system. Easy-to-clean, seamless floors prevent bacteria from harboring and growing while making cleanup more manageable for staff saving time and money. You'll also avoid rough cleanup procedures that can wear your floor down. The more low maintenance your flooring system is, the easier it is to keep it sparkling for employees and visitors.

Because they are seamless, all Stonhard flooring systems provide lower maintenance than traditional floors, however cleaning procedures will vary from industry to industry. Click here to see our recommended Low-Maintenance Epoxy Flooring System for front-of-house spaces.

  • LIGHT REFLECTIVITY

High-gloss epoxy floors are preferred in certain industries for particular areas to achieve a dramatic effect or brighten an area. In specific situations, a high-gloss floor may even be more durable.

You can achieve light reflectivity with many Stonhard flooring systems. Click here to explore one of our Decorative, High-Gloss Epoxy Flooring options.

  • SEAMLESS

The advantages of epoxy seamless floors for commercial and industrial environments are numerous. They provide high-performance qualities like impact, abrasion, and chemical resistance and they offer sanitary design benefits. In addition, seamless floors do not end up in landfills because they are poured in place becoming a part of your structure. Decorative design options are wide ranging, including custom colors, patterns, and logos.

EPOXY FLOOR INSTALLATION PROCESS
Our Process:

Stonhard is a turnkey manufacturer and installer of commercial and industrial epoxy floor systems, and we know that details are important for a successful epoxy floor installation.

Inspection and Testing

When we install a floor, we inspect the area prior to installation to determine the right system required for the area. Next, we perform additional tests based the condition of slab, use of space, age of the building, and more. These tests may include Calcium Chloride or Relative Humidity testing to determine the moisture content of the slab or contamination.

Substrate Preparation

Based on the information found from these tests and onsite visits, the area is prepared using media blasting, diamond grinding, jack hammers, and chipping guns. If slabs are determined to be contaminated with oils, de-greasing may also be necessary to achieve proper adhesion. Preparation is the most important process to ensure there is a proper bond to the substrate.

Application

Installation will vary depending on the specific system (broadcast, mortar, self leveler). The common installation procedures vary from screeding and troweling the material, squeegeeing and rolling the material, and broadcasting the material. All details, including waterproofing, cove base, penetrations, drains, etc., are discussed prior to installation. These will be handled properly to ensure a good quality epoxy floor installation with professionally trained installation teams.
