Baker Hughes' machine shop became a showcase for customers after the installation of Stonclad GS.
Baker Hughes, one of the largest oil field services companies in the world, has operating facilities in over 120 countries that are expected to uphold stringent standards of quality, cleanliness, and appearance. During a machine shop renovation in its Houston, Texas facility, the company sought to replace a worn concrete floor with a durable epoxy system that would stand up to the abuse of forklift traffic and heavy machinery and tools, while also resisting oil, chemical spills, and staining. These requirements, along with the desire for a world-class facility appearance, led the company to Stonhard.
Seamless floors are a durable solution for machine shops.
Resinous floors in mechanical areas provide a robust surface that can withstand heavy machinery and ensure worker safety.
Durable resinous floors enhance safety and functionality in machine shops.
Stonhard installed an oil-penetrating primer to remedy the oil containment of the concrete substrate, which had become worn and damaged from decades of heavy equipment, machine oil exposure, and constant forklift traffic. This was followed by the installation of Stonclad GS, a seamless, epoxy mortar system with a proven formulation to withstand heavy industrial abuse including abrasion from machinery and forklift traffic, as well as chemical stains. A heavy texture was applied for safe, slip resistant floors that would protect workers on the job.
Stonhard also installed moisture barriers for high-RH tested areas and grouting for recessed areas. The result is a bright, textured, easy-to clean floor that is safe and functional in a hardworking environment, reflecting the standards and reputation of Baker Hughes.
