In 1996, the Chapman brothers put their dream into action – to get ahead of the craft brew curve and open a brew pub in the heart of their hometown of Coronado, California. By 2010, Coronado Brewing Co. was brewing about 5,000 barrels of beer per year, allowing them to expand their reach beyond the state.
Within a couple of years the brewing company moved to a larger facility but found challenges common to breweries with sealed concrete floors -- cracking and degradation from thermal temperature swings and chemical onslaughts. They also needed a solution to protect workers on wet floors.
Stonclad UT, a textured polyurethane mortar floor, stands up to thermal shock and thermal cycling.
Stonhard installation crews worked carefully around machines and other equipment to prevent damage and maintain schedule.
Seamless, chemical-resistant and easy-to-clean floors help brewery operations to run smoothly.
The solution was simple: a new floor manufactured and installed by Stonhard. A Stonhard floor withstands the harsh environment of a brewery, including thermal shock and cycling, as well as chemical attack. Stonhard floors are also easy to clean and maintain.
Coronado’s production schedule was running on high gear, so the new floor needed to be installed quickly with minimal interruption. Working evening hours to ensure minimal impact, Stonhard’s experienced installation crew prepped the existing substrate and installed Stonclad UT. They were also sure to carefully perform intricate work around the equipment to prevent any damage.
Stonclad UT provided the proper level of texture for a slip-resistant surface without compromising ease of maintenance and sanitation. Brewery planners were happy with the many advantages of their new seamless floor.
