Stonhard Provides World-Class Flooring Solution for College’s Culinary Building

New Culinary Building Needs Floors to Meet Aesthetic and Performance Goals

The Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) operates one of the oldest culinary schools in the nation. Seeking to create a world-class space for students and visitors, they knew their floors would need to be durable and long-lasting for the commercial kitchen space and decorative with the ability to withstand heavy foot traffic in the event center. With 42,000 sq. ft. to cover, along with leveling and crack issues to address, Stonhard had a lot of ground to cover.

This culinary training kitchen is protected by Stonhard urethane floors that stand up to spills, organic acids, chemicals, and cleaning.

Reflect by Liquid Elements provides a decorative look for event spaces in LATTC’s culinary school.

College Benefits from Working with a Turnkey Flooring Company

Starting with the concrete slab, Stonhard applied a resin floor primer, Stonfil OP2, to mitigate potential moisture issues. A urethane waterproofing membrane, Stonproof ME7, was then applied as a crack-bridging isolation layer. Preparation procedures like these ensure the flooring system looks and performs as expected for many years to come.

Stonclad UT, a troweled polyurethane flooring system, was recommended for the busy culinary training kitchen, as it stands up to spills, organic acids, aggressive cleaning, and chemicals. It is also a seamless and sanitary floor that provides slip resistance and long-lasting durability.

For the building’s event space, Reflect metallic epoxy flooring system was selected from Stonhard’s luxury flooring brand, Liquid Elements. Reflect provides extraordinary design, resilience for comfort underfoot, and noise reduction.
