In recent years, the design of educational spaces has shifted, recognizing that bleak, functional areas don’t foster learning or creativity. Schools like Palmyra High can inspire students and staff without sacrificing design, thanks to Stonhard flooring solutions. The Pennsylvania school faced decade-long maintenance issues in their cafeteria and hallways, with stained, yellowing epoxy floors that required a complete renovation.
School designers sought durable, slip-resistant, easy-to-maintain floors that were also eye-catching for the cafeteria, hallways, and locker rooms. They contacted their local Stonhard territory manager, who, with Stonhard’s construction management group, managed the project from start to finish. The school’s many requirements included hallways and locker rooms that had to handle daily wear from cleats, carts, and heavy foot traffic and a cafeteria that needed durable protection against impacts, constant foot traffic, and regular cleaning.
Stonhard’s Stonblend GSI is an epoxy flooring system that handles the constant traffic of Palmyra High School’s cafeteria and hallways, while offering stain resistance and an attractive design.
Seamless floors combine durability and style, standing up to the heavy flow of traffic in school cafeterias and hallways.
Stonhard recommended Stonblend GSI for its decorative tweed appearance, low-gloss finish, slip resistance, and superior stain and wear protection. Stonseal CF7 added a seamless finish for easy cleaning, eliminating the need for routine waxing.
School planners chose neutral colors for the hallways and warm shades of brown and orange for the cafeteria. In the dining area, bold blue, green and orange hues were used in a circular pattern. Stonhard’s team expertly hand-troweled the custom design, ensuring a flawless finish. Stonblend’s durability and custom style ensured this school’s needs were met and expectations exceeded.
